PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus excellent in reliability and quality which is prevented from deforming due to creep and provides an appropriate and good printed image when the apparatus is left as it is in a non-acting state over a long time. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is provided with a toner carrier carrying toner 20 on its surface and feeding it and a nip forming member pressing the surface of the toner carrier and forming a nip. By relatively moving the toner carrier and the nip forming member, the surface of the toner carrier is pressed and the nip is formed at the acting time, and pressing is released and the nip is reduced or eliminated at the non-acting time. |
