PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a capping device in a cup type vending machine that can properly and reliably fit a cap on a cup of beverage even if the cap placed on the cup or the cup tilts from a horizontal plane. SOLUTION: The capping device 2 in a cup type vending machine, which fits a cap A on a cup U of beverage, comprises: a cap supply means 21 for supplying the cap A onto the cup U; a pressure part 21 arranged over the cup U for vertical movement; a drive mechanism 22 for driving vertically the pressure part 21 supported in a tiltable state; and a control device for, when fitting the cap A, controlling the drive mechanism 22 to move the pressure part 21 down and press the cap A after the cap A is placed on the cup U.
