A spindle motor is provided to prevent friction between a rotating sleeve and a base during initial operation and stop of the spindle motor by always floating the rotating sleeve from the base through first and second magnets, thereby preventing wear and noise of the rotating sleeve. A spindle motor(100) includes a supporting member, a rotating member, and a bearing member. The supporting member has a fixed axis(120) at a center. The rotating member is rotatably coupled on the fixed axis. The bearing member rotatably supports the rotating member in radius and axial directions by using air and magnetic force so as to prevent the rotating member from being in contact with the fixed axis and the supporting member. The bearing member has a radial bearing(180) to generate dynamic pressure between the fixed axis and the rotating member in the radius direction and a thrust bearing to generate thrust for floating the rotating member in the axial direction of the fixed axis.
