An activating sensor (10) for anti-tank mines using a single-beam CW laser range finder is provided with simple additional components to correspond with a two-beam laser range finder with derived measurement for effective attack on the centre of the target. The transmission optical system (12) of the laser range finder, comprising a laser (11), reception diode (14), preamplifier (19) and range finding unit (10a) are provided with a cylindrical or Fresnel lens (13) for the production of two narrow and closely adjacent laser beams (13a.13b), a photo-diode (15) being located correspondingly close to the reception diode (14) with a timing device (16) to measure the time between the two reception sensitivity changes accompanying a jump in the distance and passing same to an evaluation unit serving to determine the moment for the detonation.
