<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processor in which the conversion of a gradation from a high-gradation image to a low-gradation image can be realized in simple circuit constitution and addition and revision of a circuit is not required even when the number of output gradations is changed, and to provide an image processing method. <P>SOLUTION: When converting the number (n) of gradations of an input image into the output image having the number (m) of gradations (m<n), gradation correspondence data mode corresponding to the set number (m) of output gradations are held in an output gradation register 11 and pixel data VDO of an output image are found by logically operating pixel data VDI of the input image and the gradation correspondence data mode held in the output gradation register 11 in an output value operation part 12.
