Mineral filter and treatment activates and enhances the adsorption power of a mineral filter such as kieselguhr comprises: (a) introducing a mineral and an associated fluid into a zone in which they are exposed to chemical and physical treatment and subjected to ultrasound, and (b) separating the kieselguhr from the fluid.
