An abrasion device 1 suitable for use on skin includes a handset, an outlet port or aperture 4 of which is to be applied to the skin (figure 3), a nozzle 16 spaced from the outlet port for delivering abrasive articles, means such as a vacuum pump (9 figure 1) for applying a vacuum to a headspace 14 around the nozzle via channel 7 and a flow line 11 communicating with the nozzle via channel 7 and a flow line 11 communicating with the nozzle which flow line has a first limb open to the atmosphere at outlets 12 and 13 and another limb 10 communicating with supply 2 of abrasive material, such that an airflow can be created in the first limb when the outlet port is sealed, such as by pressing against the skin, which airflows entrains abrasive material by a venturi effect. The headspace may be formed by a press-on shroud 3. Outlet 12 may be larger than outlet 13 and include filter, such that air drawn through outlet 12 in preference to outlet 13 until an operator closes outlet 12, e.g. by covering it with a finger. A filter/collector may be provided (8 Figure 1) to gather used abrasive and debris. A docking port 15 may be provided for the source 2 and may have a push, screw or bayonet fitting. |
