PURPOSE:To obtain the subject material having high density and strength and excellent corrosion resistance by adding a specific amount of AlN to a boride such as TiB2, ZrB2 or HfB2 and sintering the obtained powdery mixture. CONSTITUTION:AlN is added in an amount of 1-45wt.% (based on the whole composition) to at least one kind of an MB2-type boride selected from TiB2, ZrB2, HfB2, VB2, NbB2, TaB2, CrB2, MoB2, MnB2 and AlB2, an M2B5-type boride selected from W2B5 and Mo2B5 and an MB-type boride selected from TiB, ZrB, HfB, VB, NbB, TaB, CrB, MoB and MnB. The AlN may be added with 0.1-50wt.% (based on the whole composition) of powder of one or more metals such as Ti, Zr and Hf. The objective boride-AIN ceramic material can be produced by sintering the obtained powdery mixture. When the amount of AlN is out of the above range, the heat-resistance and corrosion resistance of the material become poor. |
