A scanning circuit comprising a plurality of unit circuits, each of which comprises a plurality of single conductivity type thin-film transistors and is controlled in synchronization with a plurality of clock signals, wherein each of the unit circuits comprises at least an output circuit, a reset circuit, and a reset signal generation circuit; the output circuit comprises a circuit element for transferring one of the clock signals to an output terminal and a circuit element for maintaining the output terminal at a constant voltage; the reset circuit has a function of stopping the circuit element for transferring the clock signal to the output terminal; the reset signal generation circuit generates a plurality of reset signals, the reset signals controlling the reset circuit and the circuit element for maintaining the output terminal at a constant voltage; and an amplitude of the reset signals is smaller than an amplitude of the clock signals.
