SUPPORT FOR EXPANSION DEVICE IN BRIDGE BEAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide supports for an expansion device in a bridge beam for which a compact expansion device is sufficient under conditions of securing a large opening conformed to the ultimate horizontal strength method and satisfying the expansion quantity to displacement of at least a seismic coefficient method level. SOLUTION: Supports 7 of an expansion device 2 connecting the upper ends of two structures 1, 1 opposed through a first opening D1 in the axial direction X of a bridge are protruded into the first opening D1 from the opposed end faces of the structures 1, 1 so as to form a second opening D2 narrower than the first opening D1 , and small support member 12 large in vertical rigidity but small in horizontal rigidity are provided to support vertical load acting upon the expansion device 2.
