The present invention relates to a portable device comprising a global navigational satellite system (GNSS) receiver capable of reducing power consumption and an operating method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the operating method of a portable device comprising a measurement engine comprises: a step of calculating currently measured estimation accuracy from the measurement engine; a step of calculating a metric value indicating a difference between the currently measured estimation accuracy and accuracy of a desired level; a step of filtering the calculated metric value and current values of one or more adjustable measurement parameters used in performing a current measurement operation to generate one or more filtered values; a step of using the generated filtered values to generate values of one or more adjustable measurement parameters used in performing a next measurement operation; and a step of using the generated values of the adjustable measurement parameters to perform the next measurement operation. The portable device comprising a GNSS receiver according to an embodiment of the present invention can minimize power consumption while maintaining position search accuracy of a level required by a user. |
