PURPOSE:To prevent a contour from being generated with another color by processing an area where density is thickened by filter processing with the same color as an original image. CONSTITUTION:After a surface removing circuit 701 decreases the density level of image data corresponding to a surface to the level of the surface, density data passes through a filter circuit 704 composed of a low-pass filter, and the level is compared with that of density data, which does not pass through this circuit 704, by a comparator circuit 708. The comparator circuit 708 finds out the area where it is discriminated that the density is thickened by the filter circuit 704, sends it to a logic circuit 711 and outputs a surface flag 703 inputted in the circuit 711 as a corrected surface flag 712. As a result, the surface part is exactly processed by the edit processing of a succeeding stage. |
