摘要 The purpose of the present invention is to provide a variation mechanism device for an internal combustion engine, in which the device is configured so that, if the piston position for compression top dead center is raised in order to achieve a high mechanical compression ratio, a piston crown surface and an intake/exhaust valve will not interfere with one another during the exhaust stroke and a sufficient internal exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) effect can be obtained. The piston position at intake (exhaust) top dead center is set by a variable compression ratio mechanism to be lower than the piston position at compression top dead center. Because of this feature, if the piston position for compression top dead center is raised in order to achieve a high mechanical compression ratio, by setting the piston position for exhaust top dead center to be lower, the piston crown surface and the intake/exhaust valve can be made not to interfere with one another and a sufficient internal EGR effect in the exhaust stroke can be obtained.
