PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic document feeder capable of feeding a large document without folding it while avoiding a cost increase. SOLUTION: The automatic document feeder 100 comprises a carrying casing 101 having a predetermined-width carrying passage and a document reading position of reading a document carried on the carrying passage. Herein, a feed part for feeding the document via the carrying passage to the document reading position is provided under a discharge part 140 for discharging the document passing through the document reading position via the carrying passage. The carrying casing 101 has a movable frame body 102 to be moved between a predetermined position of forming the predetermined-width carrying passage and an opening position of forming a second carrying passage which falls down from the predetermined position and to which one side of the carrying passage opens.
