A protective device has a cover plate on the outer face (4) of an actuating element (2) and inserted into the a recess of a door/window panel. The cover plate is a two-part structure and has a protective unit (13,14) made of a hard material for covering one of the protection zones of the actuating element (2). A support plate (12) is provided separately for the protection unit (13,14). An independent claim is given for a plate/ferrule drive.
