A process for producing an anti-fouling algae (growth-repellent) ship paint is intended to lead to a non-poisonous and algae growth-repellent coating. For this a marine coating base has added to it a zinc-containing constituent comprising (CN)6 complexes of hydrocyanic acid, in particular of hexacyanoferric(II) or hexacyanoferric(III) acid; the sole or additional colour pigment to be included in a colourless base is zinc ferrocyanide and/or ferricyanide, in particular admixed with potassium hexacyanoferrates or sodium hexacyanoferrate(II) or calcium hexacyanoferrate(II).
