PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power plant that has power generation operation and power generation brake operation when a brake pedal is pressed down while an automobile travels, where an electric generator is installed at a rotary shaft in the traveling automobile, power is generated each time when the brake pedal is pressed, the axle has power generation operation in power generation, and a battery and a rechargeable battery are charged with the generated electricity. SOLUTION: The electric generator 2 is provided at the rotating shaft 1 of the automobile. In the electric generator 2, an armature 5 rotating together with the axle 1 is provided, a coil 6 is wound around the armature 5, both ends of the coil 6 are connected to a commutator 4, a brush 11 is provided while being pressure-welded to the commutator 4, a switch 13 operated by the brake pedal 12 is provided halfway from the brush 11 for connecting to the battery or the side of an output terminal 16 of the rechargeable battery 10, and a field 8 is provided at the periphery section of the armature 5 to wind the coil 9 for connecting to the battery or the side of an input terminal 14 of the rechargeable battery 10.
