USE OF GLYCYRRHIZA GLABRA EXTRACT AGAINST PLANT PATHOGENS IN THE AGRICULTURE.

Downy mildews of crops comprise a ubiquitous group of plant pathogens, which cause huge eonomic losses in agricultural production. Effective management and control of the disease is a major problem and a big challenge for the agricultural production. Applications (in the form of sprays) of ethanolic extracts derived from the aboveground parts of the Glycyrrhiza glabra plant, reduces and controls downy mildew severity of crop plants. The effective disease reduction is attributed to the anti-downy mildew properties of the Glycyrrhiza glabra plant extract. Application of the extract on crop plants indicate an alternative and new method of managing downy mildew infections. New substances with anti-downy mildew properties are revealed throughout this invention.
