<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intermediate member to be used for firmly connecting by welding two wire materials different in constitution material composition, and to provide a highly reliably guide wire which is constituted by the firm connection of the wires with the use of the intermediate member and is smoothly curved without being bent. <P>SOLUTION: The guide wire 1 is obtained by connecting the first wire 2, which is arranged at the distal end side and constituted of a first metallic material, and the second wire 3, which is arranged at the proximal end side of the first wire 2 and constituted of a second metallic material, by respectively welding to the intermediate member 14. The intermediate member 14 included in the guide wire 1 contains at least one kind among Pd, Pt, Rh, Ir, and Ta.
