When a user portable telephone receives a button operation specifying a displayed item on a Web page displayed on the screen by the user, the user portable telephone automatically calls telephone number information linked with the displayed item. A modem in a service system receives the caller number sent simultaneously with the call by the user portable telephone. The modem reads the caller number sent from the user portable telephone and transfers it to a service providing server. The service providing server receives the caller number transferred from the modem. The service providing server in the service system reads a registration user list where the telephone numbers of the users to which services are to be provided are registered in advance and judges whether or not there is any telephone number listed in the registration user list agreeing with the received caller number. If there is an agreeing telephone number, the user is authenticated as the registered user permitted to receive a service.
