PURPOSE:To prevent the degradation in display picture quality by making the occurrence of a false image occurring in a moving image inconspicuous and to suppress the shortening of periods of a sustaining pulse and an address pulse. CONSTITUTION:In a method for dividing a unit display period (1F) of each pixel on a PDP to a display period of the number N (e.g. N is eight) of bits corresponding to display gradation, weighting the number of display pulses of respective division display periods (SF1-SF8) corresponding to respective bits and displaying a halftone image of a video signal, a display order of SF1-SF8 is made an inverted order in the odd line and the even line of the PDP, and the brightness and darkness of the false image occurring on front/rear of a direction to which the moving image is moved is inverted and canceled. When the arrangement of the display order of SF1-SF8 is constituted so that the SF8 corresponding to an MSB(most significant bit) is made a center, and the SF7, SF6, ... decreasing the bit number are distributed onto front/rear, and the difference of the bit number between adjacent upper/lower lines is made one, the shortening ratio of the periods of the sustaining pulse and the address pulse are suppressed to two (or 1/2). |
