An LCD panel and a method for manufacturing the LCD panel are provided to prevent the leakage of light and the reduction of brightness in the LCD, by applying a TOC(Thin film transistor On Color filter) structure to the LCD panel. A lower substrate(101) faces an upper substrate(111) with a liquid crystal layer therebetween. A color filter(112) is formed on the lower substrate, and disposed in a pixel region defined by a data line(104) and a gate line. An organic planarization layer(118) is formed on the resultant substrate including the color filter. The data line and the gate line cross each other with an organic gate insulating layer(106) therebetween. An active layer(138) is formed on the organic gate insulating layer at a crossing portion of the gate line and the data line. A source electrode covers one end of the active layer, and a drain electrode(136) covers the other end of the active layer. A gate electrode(132) is connected to the gate line. An organic passivation layer(150) has a contact hole for exposing the drain electrode. A pixel electrode(122) is connected to the drain electrode through the contact hole. |
