A speed-change operation mechanism for a manual transmission, including a shift select shaft (52) rotatable by a select operation of a speed-change operation member (50) and axially movable by a shift operation of the speed-change operation member (50), and a plurality of shift forks (54-1,54-2,54-3) for forward gear trains, mounted on the shift select shaft so as to be relatively rotatable and axially movable. A shift piece (56) is fixed to the shift select shaft (52). The shift piece is operated in concert with the shift operation of the speed-change operation member to establish a selected one of the forward gear trains. Further, an interlock member (58) is mounted on the shift select shaft so as to be nonrotatable and axially movable.
