PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an EL element having a luminous layer which contains quantum dots that can be applied to various organic ligands and have good light-emitting characteristics and life characteristics. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the EL element comprises a luminous layer formation process in which a luminous layer forming coating liquid containing quantum dots having an organic ligand arranged in the surrounding is coated on a substrate on which a first electrode layer is formed and a luminous layer is formed, an organic ligand removal process in which an UV-ozone washing is applied on the luminous layer and the organic ligand is removed, and a second electrode layer formation process in which a second electrode layer is formed on the luminous layer from which the organic ligand is removed.
