PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dimmer for a strobe, which is suitable for being mounted in various small photographing devices and ensures improved accuracy in dimming when minute strobe light is emitted. SOLUTION: The dimmer 1 for the strobe includes: a semiconductor light receiving element 2 that generates photocurrent corresponding to the intensity of the reflected light of the strobe; voltage integral means 3 and 4 that integrate voltages at different speeds of voltage increase based on the photocurrent by the same semiconductor light-receiving element 2; a time measuring means 5 that measures time from the initiation of light emission; and a signal generating means 6 by which if the integral value obtained by a voltage integral means 3 with the high speed of voltage increase reaches a predetermined level set according to a proper quantity of exposure, a light emission stop signal is output at this time, and if not, a light emission stop signal is output after a given time T has elapsed and when the integral value obtained by the voltage integral means 4 with the low speed of voltage increase reaches the predetermined level.
