<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thin optical pickup device which reproduces a signal recorded on a signal recording layer of an optical disk. <P>SOLUTION: The thin optical pickup device is provided with: a collimator lens 17 receiving the laser beam emitted from a laser diode 12 as a diverging light, and changing the laser beam into a parallel light; and a prism 18 which includes an incident surface 18a receiving the laser beam changed into the parallel light by this collimator lens 17, a reflection surface 18b which reflects the laser beam incident from the incident surface 18a, and an emission surface 18c which emits the laser beam reflected by the reflection surface 18b toward the objective lens 19.
