PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve low power consumption drive and display a small, low cost, high quality image. SOLUTION: The image display device includes a plurality of light sources for emitting light rays of different wavelengths, and an image display section for displaying at least one of the light rays emitted from the plurality of light sources. In the image display device, the light sources are composed of semiconductor lasers, which are a first light source for emitting red laser beam, a second light source for emitting blue laser beam, and a third light source for emitting a laser beam whose oscillation wavelength is shorter than that of each of the first and second light sources.
