PROCESS OF REDUCING ERROR OF FLATNESS IN ALLOY ARTICLE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process of reducing the error of flatness in an alloy article.SOLUTION: An alloy article 60 may be heated to a first temperature about equal to at least an alloy martensitic transformation start temperature. A mechanical force may be applied to the alloy article 60 at the first temperature. The mechanical force may tend to suppress the error of flatness in the surface of the alloy article 60. The alloy article 60 may be cooled to a second temperature equal to or lower than an alloy martensitic transformation end temperature. The mechanical force may be maintained in the alloy article 60 for at least a part of the period of cooling the alloy article 60 from the first temperature to the second temperature.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 6
