Provided are a method and device for adjusting the backlight brightness of a liquid crystal display. The method comprises the following steps: dividing a backlight region of a liquid crystal display into multiple sub-regions, acquiring a maximum pixel brightness M of each sub-region, and acquiring an average pixel brightness A according to the maximum pixel brightnesses M (S101); dividing the brightnesses into multiple brightness ranges, and separately adjusting a duty cycle and a driving current of backlight in different brightness ranges according to the average pixel brightness A and the maximum pixel brightnesses M (S102); determining the brightness rage of each sub-region according to the maximum pixel brightness M of each sub-region, and acquiring the adjusted duty cycle and the adjusted driving current corresponding to the brightness range of each sub-region (S103); and correspondingly controlling the light-emitting brightness of each sub-region by using the adjusted duty cycle and the adjusted driving current (S104). |
