PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for providing information on an unfamiliar place and a method for providing the information on the unfamiliar place, which provide information usable for a user by extracting a place which is highly likely to be visited by the user in the future even if the user has not visited there and providing the user with the information on the place.

SOLUTION: This device for providing the information on the unfamiliar place has: an action history data acquisition part 152 acquiring action history information of the user; a place group creation part 154 creating a place group composed of a plurality of places to which the user has visited from the action history information; a place group decision part 174 deciding a place group of the plurality of created place groups to which an arbitrary place belongs; and a probability calculation part 178 calculating probability that the user visits a spot in the arbitrary place under the condition that the arbitrary place belongs to the decided place group.
