PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flux-cored wire for self-shielded arc welding having satisfactory welding operability, free from welding defects, and further having excellent weld metal performance. SOLUTION: In the flux-cored wire for self-shielded arc welding in which flux is filled in a steel-made outer shell, by mass to the whole mass of the wire, the flux comprises: BaF<SB>2</SB>of 7.5 to 9.6%; metal Al or an Al alloy of 1.5 to 2.5% by a value expressed in terms of Al; metal Mg or an Mg alloy of 1.0 to 2.0% by a value expressed in terms of Mg; LiF of 0.20 to 0.90%; Ni of 0.4 to 2.8%; and the multiple oxide of an alkaline-earth metal(s) of 2.5 to 4.5%, and further, comprises, in the total of the flux and outer shell components: 0.08 to 0.20% C (wherein, it is comprised by 0.06 0.15% as the outer shell component);≤0.10% Si; 0.7 to 2.0% Mn;≤0.30% Al<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>;≤0.30% MgO, and the balance mainly Fe in the steel-made outer shell and flux with inevitable impurities, and the cross-section of the wire has no seams.
