PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To acquire two-dimensional information of time and phase by measuring a frequency change in light as a phase difference in beat signals provided by coherent detection when measuring distortion of an optical fiber using Brillouin scattering light.SOLUTION: An optical fiber distortion measuring apparatus includes a light source 10, a bifurcating unit 42, a delay unit 48, and a multiplexer unit 50. The light source unit generates probe light. The probe light is incident on a measurement object optical fiber 100. The bifurcating unit bifurcates Brillouin backscatter light generated at the measurement object optical fiber by the probe light, into a first optical path and a second optical path. The delay unit is provided on any one of the first optical path and the second optical path and provides a delay time difference between light beams propagating the first optical path and second optical path. The multiplexer unit multiplexes the light beams propagating the first optical path and second optical path to generate multiplexed light.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
