A waveguide type display apparatus is provided to reduce power consumption by enabling only displayed texts or pictures to irradiate a light and intensifying the light without using a diffuser. A light from an optical source(10) is reflected by an optical source reflective plate(15). The reflected light passes through a perpendicular cross section(22) of a transparent plate which serves as a light guide plate. A hologram(30) is manufactured in text or picture shapes to be displayed on the transparent plate. A diffuser(34) and a color filter(40) are further implemented on the hologram. Reflective plates are further implemented on four perpendicular cross sections of the transparent plate so that the light is contained in the transparent plate.
