A pulse shunt comprises a low resistance connected to an input 4 from a vehicle lighting system to absorb short voltage pulses from a vehicle lamp unit. When Light Emitting Diode (LED) lamps are connected to an output 5 they are stopped from flashing if they are not otherwise illuminated, when the lamp check unit emits pulses. The shunt also allows the lamp check unit of the vehicle to measure a low resistance on the monitored external lighting circuits, where LEDs are fitted, so that 'lamp failures' will not be indicated and when a trailer is connected it will be recognised. The shunt may remain active after the ignition is switched off and may be either automatically or manually activated. The shunt may be located on/in a vehicle or trailer or in the wiring in between. |
