<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication system capable of realizing throughput not lower than the physical rate of a telephone line. <P>SOLUTION: The data communication system comprises an ATU-R, i.e. a modem installed on the subscriber side and provided with a first compressing/decompression section for compressing uplink data of ATM cell format and decompressing compressed downlink data to restore the data of ATM cell format, a second compressing/decompression section for compressing downlink data of ATM cell format and decompressing compressed uplink data to restore the data of ATM cell format, and a DSLAM, i.e. a concentrator being installed on the station side in order to transmit/receive compressed uplink data and downlink data to/from the ATU-R. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
