PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light diffusion device that uses a compact diffuser panel and comes equipped with a diffuser panel drive mechanism free of timing with which the motion of the diffuser panel stops.SOLUTION: A light diffusion device 10 has a first light diffusion unit 31 for transmitting light while diffusing it and provided in the optical path of a light composing an image. The first light diffusion unit 31 is, for example, constituted by a diffusion sheet and driven by a drive unit 50, being thereby oscillated. The drive unit 50 includes a rotation drive device 24 and an eccentric crank shaft 53x, connected to the rotation drive device 24, that eccentrically gyrates. The first light diffusion unit 31 has, at one end, suppression means 32 for suppressing movement in other than a prescribed direction. The eccentric crank shaft 53x is joined to the other end of the first light diffusion unit 31 to compose a slider crank mechanism, whereby the first light diffusion unit 31 makes an oscillating motion in accordance with the eccentric gyration of the eccentric crank shaft 53x.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
