PURPOSE:To prevent an optical fiber from twisting by engaging a projection provided to a housing with a slit formed in the flange of a ferrule. CONSTITUTION:An optical semiconductor module is structured by inserting the flanged ferrule 15 to which an optical fiber 14 is connected into a cylindrical hole 13 which is opened at one end of a housing 11 and pressing and fixing the flange 17 of the ferrule 15 to one end of the housing 11. Then, the projection 27 provided to the housing 11 is engaged with the slit 26 formed in the flange 17. Consequently, the turning force of a cap nut 18 is not transmitted to the ferrule 15 and the optical fiber 14 is prevented from twisting.
