PURPOSE:To hold a tilt bracket positively in the driving position by constructing the title device in such a way as to energize a stopper plate toward a stopper member so as to obtain strong engagement between their mutual teeth at the time of an operating lever being in the locking position. CONSTITUTION:Outside the left side part 1a of a fixed bracket 1, a stopper member 30 is fitted at the periphery of the flat shank 22b of a tilt operating shaft 22 in such a way that the stopper member 30 is not rotated against the tilt operating shaft 22. The upper end part of a vertically extended stopper plate 31 is rotatably fitted at the left side face of the fixed bracket 1 by a special pin 32. When a steering wheel and a tilt bracket 5 are held in the driving position, an operating lever 27 is rotated upward into the locking position so as to fasten a nut 23 and fix the tilt operating shaft 22 at the fixed bracket 1. |
