A trailer 3 adapted to be towed by an engine driven tractor 2 has a chassis or frame 1, dual axle wheels 5 and a load carrying deck 4. An internal combustion engine 13 is mounted on the chassis or frame 1 and this drives the wheels 5 of the trailer. The motor 13 is mounted on the underside of the deck 4. Synchronisation means are provided so that in use the operation of the motor 13 mounted on the trailer 3 is synchronised with the operation of the engine in the tractor 2. The invention also relates to the trailer 3 when attached to a tractor 2.
