PURPOSE: To provide a support material to heavy load such as a structure or a building and to obtain the accurate data of a change of heavy load in considerable various directions. CONSTITUTION: In a support material 1 for heavy load containing elastically deformable matter, a transmitter is connected to at least two optical fibers 6 respectively containing two test pieces 61 embedded in the matter and the test pieces 61 are respectively coated with a sheath having mechanical yield strength. The transmitter is connected to an external apparatus for sending light into the fibers 6 and an external apparatus for analyzing the light emitted from the fibers 6 so as to show the average pressure laterally applied to the test pieces 61 of the fibers embedded in the matter.
