PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a transparent glass body in which the torsion of the tip of a glass rod of a target holder is reduced, and which has no bending by shortening a glass tube, further to make a sintering apparatus inexpensive by reducing the cost of the glass tube and a glass rod, and to lower the whole height of the apparatus. SOLUTION: A porous base material 8 is lowered to the position at the temperature lower than that where the base material 8 is converted into transparent glass and is waited. The porous base material 8 is covered with a glass tube 6 constituted so as to be made shorter than the porous base material 8 at least by a degree of being entered into the furnace core tube. The porous base material 8 is heated while being rotatively moved in the furnace core tube of an inert gas. Then, the porous base material 8 is converted into the transparent glass. |
