PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an environment-friendly and inexpensive coffin having a pattern like sculpture, that is, the coffin with a press-formed pattern and a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: At least one surface of side plates, a front plate, a back plate and a top plate of this coffin has a pattern like sculpture, and plate materials 1 to 7 constituting the coffin 1 are soft wood materials. The pattern is formed by press forming, and the soft wood material plate (e.g. 3) with the pattern has a flat frame part in the peripheral edge of the surface, and the height of the pattern is lower than the height of the flat frame part 3a. This manufacturing method for the coffin includes a humidifying process of humidifying a plate material where to form a pattern by press forming, and a press molding process of disposing the plate material where to form a pattern by press forming, and pressing the plate material by a heated mold to form a pattern on the plate material.
