PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size and weight of a rising and falling body and a needle-bar-driving member, to reduce the occupied space in a sewing machine head, and to enhance the stability at a high-speed operation. SOLUTION: A guide shaft 10 is erected in parallel with a needle bar 4. A rising and falling body 11 is supported with the guide shaft 10. A needle-bar- driving member 13 is installed to the rising and falling body 11 rotatably in a horizontal plane. An input lever 36 and a middle lever 50 are rotatably supported on a common vertical axis 35 in a horizontal plane. When a jump signal is outputted, a solenoid 43 is excited and the middle lever 50 is connected with the input lever 36 enabling their interlock. The middle lever 50 rotates the output lever 61 in a horizontal plane, the driving part 63 of an output lever 61 rotates the needle-bar-driving member 13 to a place retracted from the needle bar 4 and the force transmission from the rising and falling body 11 to the needle bar 4 is cut off. The driving part 63 is formed of a pin-shaped member so as to have a vertical length equal to the length of the stroke of the rising and falling body 11. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
