Any nitrogen dioxide present will also be converted to nitric oxide by the copper. Preferably nitric oxide measurement is by reacting the catalysed mixture with a reactant capable of producing chemiluminescence with nitric oxide, and measuring the chemiluminescence of the reaction as described in Specification's 1341346 and 1341347, but other means, such as nondispersive infrared instruments or electrolytic techniques may be used. Apparatus identical to that disclosed in Specification 1343858 for measurement of ammonia, nitric oxide, and nitrogen dioxide in a gaseous mixture is described.
