Stepped floor for service bus - has step angled relative to door and shielded by railings

The service vehicle has the step near the door and angled so that the passengers have to move laterally to step down. Railings protect the passengers from falling down the step when the bus stops suddenly, or in a crush. The width of the step is at least half the width of the door. The system provides a safe step for the higher rear floor of service vehicles, with underfloor drive units. The railings provide a secure hold while stepping down. On entering the door the passenger can ei ther step a head and up the step or to one side for the front lower deck.
