The automatic machine pneumatically monitors the top and bottom surfaces of items of porous material or cork, particularly washers. Double compressed-air heads (6, 9) work in conjunction with the transfer (2), monitoring, discharge and multiple-selection (4) devices. Item distribution can be by a vibratory hopper (1) of controlled frequency connected to a curved feed track (2) equipped with a photo-electric cell (3) monitoring for regular item flow. The heads (6, 9) are connected to a reservoir (10). The entrainment device is driven by a motor (12) through a belt or chain drive to a reduction drive to an eccentric device (18) of the base of the disc axle.
