A wireless terminal according to one embodiment is equipped with a control unit for controlling a random access procedure. The random access procedure includes first processing for transmitting a random access preamble to a base station, second processing for receiving a random access response from the base station, and third processing for uplink-transmitting to the base station on the basis of the random access response. The control unit notifies the base station regarding the amount of uplink data inside a transmission buffer of the wireless terminal during the first processing or the third processing.
