For use in thin seams, the powered support assembly, consisting of floor skid, gob shield, roof bar and a guidance mechanism as well as at least one prop restrainable between roof bar and floor skid, has one or more auxiliary props which are arranged roughly normal to the stratification on the goaf side behind the prop. The auxiliary prop or auxiliary props are connected to the floor skid and are designed to be movable towards the gob shield but are not connected to the latter. The auxiliary prop or auxiliary props take over the forces not to be applied in each case by the actual prop up to or from a certain and selectable range. <IMAGE>
