In a guide for lowerable window panes by means of sliding elements which are attached to the window pane (7) and are guided in a longitudinally displaceable fashion in assigned guide rails (profile rail 5), the sliding elements are formed by cylinders (17, 19). The profile rail (5) is provided on its side facing the window pane (7) with a longitudinal slot (41) which permits the brackets (23, 23) which connect the cylinders (17, 19) to the window pane (7) to swivel. The brackets themselves are swivellable about an axle (27, 31) in the assigned cylinders (17, 19) so that every attachment point forms a universal joint. <IMAGE>
