PURPOSE:To guide a proper route to a destination by adding/displaying information showing a direction for the destination from a present place at the time of displaying the map of an area which does not include the specified destination on a display. CONSTITUTION:At the time of displaying the map which does not include the destination Q since the present place P of the vehicle and the destination Q are distantly separated, the destination Q is displayed at the end of the screen of the display 1 to know the azimuth of the destination. Furthermore, with regard to displaying of a map of changed reduced scale, among routes having a setting level corresponding to the reduced scale determined from respective pieces of route information in a map data storage medium 2, the point of a place having the setting level is furthermore extracted to transform the coordinate concerning the point of the place and when two adjacent point of the place have a specific relation, connection display between the two points is executed with a luminance corresponding to the kind of the route. Consequently, the driver can easily select the optimum road for the destination through the use of the road map which is specific in some degree. |
